So I bowled in the Men’s City Tournament last weekend. We bowled the team event on Saturday and I did horribly! I shot a 155, 139, and 119. I can’t remember the last time I bowled so badly. I was so frustrated and _ _ _ _ off. I sat there wondering whether I would end up just being a good league bowler. I had league that night and I ended up shooting a 593. Much better than the 412 from earlier in the day. Granted lane conditions are generally harder in tournaments, but I didn’t think it would make THAT big of a difference. So I was uplifted from the 593 and went the next day to bowl Singles and Doubles. I shot a 545 in doubles, not bad. It made me feel better and then I shot a 264 my first game in singles and I was like HOLY CRAP! I ended up with a 588 (ok so I kinda went down hill from there), but in league on Monday I shot a 631 with 195, 222, 214 games. I feel like doing badly that first day forced me to get my head out of wherever it was and just bowl. Everything just clicks when I go to bowl now. My approach is smooth, my swing even, and my release rolls. Now I just want to bowl and have to wait until Thursday to do it. I guess my point in writing this post is to see if anyone else has ever similar experiences. And as a note to all who get discouraged, don’t give up. Use your bad days as learning experiences and push forward from there. I ended up getting 3rd place in singles in my division. If I can, anyone can.
